How to find the right holiday home

casa vacanza

Are you looking for a holiday home, but not quite sure what, how and where to look? Let’s get one thing straight: there is no such thing as a better holiday home than another. It all depends on what you want. The first step is therefore to understand what your needs are: why are you looking for a holiday home? Do you like the sea, the mountains or the hills? Do you prefer tranquillity or nightlife? Should it be in a strategic location well connected to the infrastructure or is it better to have an isolated house surrounded by nature?

Start by defining the geographical area. You can also select a couple before searching only in one area. Define in which location you would like to find a home (city, countryside, suburbs, sea, etc.) and, finally, think about what space and how many rooms you will need in your new home.

  1. Define the geographic area
  2. House location
  3. Size and space of the house
  4. The advantages of holiday homes in Val di Magra

1. Define the geographic area

Certainly, the very first point to define is the geographical area. Real estate agencies usually operate in a small territory. Therefore, once you have defined the area you are interested in, you can also decide to contact an estate agency in the selected territory to help you find what you are looking for. The geographical area should be defined according to your interests. If you are looking for a house near the sea, especially for the summer months, it is clear that you should choose an area near the coast. On the contrary, if you are looking for a house for mountain sports, you should consider a town in the Alps or other mountain areas. Alternatively, you may want a house in the countryside, in hilly areas, to get away from the city and relax in nature.

2. House location

Defining the location means answering the following questions: Does the house have to be easily accessible by public transport or is this not necessary because you will be travelling by car? With respect to the services you want to access – e.g. beach for the sea or ski slopes for the mountains – how far should the house be? Does it have to be easily accessible on foot or by bicycle, or is this not necessary? Also, does the house have to be close to infrastructure such as motorways, train stations, bus stations and airports or is this not strictly necessary?

3. Size and space of the house

Another aspect to take into consideration is the type of house you want to buy: detached house, flat, village or house in a hamlet. Obviously this depends on many factors: how many people will live in the holiday home? What purpose does the holiday home serve? Is it a foothold to reach other tourist locations or is it itself a place to live for the holiday? In other words, are you looking for a flat near the sea or a detached house, perhaps with a garden and swimming pool for barbecues and parties with friends? Are you a large family or a couple? Do you need a guest room?

Having a clear idea of your needs and thus of what you are looking for is crucial to finding the right holiday home. So, take some time and think about all these points.

4. The advantages of holiday homes in Val di Magra

The Val di Magra area is an excellent area to buy a holiday home, as it is characterised by a wide variety of landscapes allowing for different activities. Whatever your passion, the Val di Magra will most likely satisfy you.

In the coastal areas you can go boating, surfing and windsurfing, go trekking by the sea or simply go to the beach and relax. At the same time, you can easily reach the Apuan Alps. Here you can ski, snowshoe, climb various mountains and admire the Gulf and the meeting of the Ligurian and Tuscan coasts from above. In addition, you can explore the hinterland of Lunigiana – villages, natural parks and beautiful landscapes – by hiking, trekking, picnicking, kayaking and much more.

All this and more can be found in the Val di Magra area, straddling Liguria and Tuscany: 70 km from Pisa airport and well served by infrastructure (motorways and railways). Finally, the Val di Magra area is very close to the Gulf of Poets, the Cinque Terre and Versilia.

Could the Val di Magra be the solution for the whole family? After all, what other area can please everyone in terms of landscapes and activities?
